When I was in grade 4, my 2 buddies and I decided to do something for summer to make some money.

Our place is near this hugely popular lugawan restaurant in Pasay City where they have several push carts (Kariton) selling lugaw in streets.

My buddies and I thought it was fun to sell lugaw as a summer business.

So we approached the business owner and asked him if he’ll lend us one of his push carts and we’ll sell his lugaw for a commission.

But since we’re too young to be considered doing this kind of job, he politely said “No.”

Instead he proposed and said…”Marami kaming kalderon huhugasan. Yun na lang ang trabaho nyo.”

And since we’re already committed to make some money that summer, we agreed. Besides, working with your buddies will be a lot of fun.

That was my first job, I made some money, and I’m a one happy gradeschooler.

The reason I’m telling you this story is this…there’s an immense power in commitment.

Meaning, to make your dream business a reality, you have to take actions towards the realization of that dream.

Every action, big or small is an act of commitment.

If you invest time, sweat, and money into something it’s a step towards the accomplishment of your dream.

So let me ask you these questions…what’s your dream business?

What have you done in the last 3 days to start and succeed in that business?

Remember, your boss in not responsible for your financial freedom. You are.

It’s your business. It’s your life. It’s your freedom.

So be committed in starting your own business with one act of faith at a time.

Just this morning, I heard the news that the Philippines’ King of Comedy is in a critical condition.

I was saddened after hearing it.

Though we all don’t want to entertain the thought but maybe the end is near for him. He’s over 80 years old now and has served his purpose.

Growing up I’ve seen some of Dolphy’s movies and television show. The most memorable show for me is probably John En Marsha back in the 80’s.

He mesmerized millions of Filipinos with his slapstick jokes back then. Love him or hate him, he’s definitely a great entertainer and he’ll remain the king of comedy.

Why am I telling you all these?

For one important message and that is…

…life is short…and you better make the most out of your life.

If you’ll dig your pictures taken 5 years ago, you’ll probably notice that you’ve wrinkled up a little bit.

Or maybe you’ve gained weight and your hair is thinner now.

This will make you realize that indeed time flies so fast.

The question is…what are you going to do with the time that you have left?

Are you still going to spend it in a job that you hate?

Drag your feet to work every morning and hoping that someday life will be better?

Listen up, I believe that there’s something in your heart that tells you what you should be doing.

It can be starting a business, writing songs, helping the needy, or whatever.

The point is you have to listen to your heart and do what it tells you to do.

Clock is ticking and by the time you are finished reading this blog post 10 minutes of your time is already gone.

Remember this, you only have one life and only you can decide how are you going to spend it.
